Please join us in welcoming Zac Upton as Dawson’s new Production Manager. Zac comes to Dawson from First Baptist Church Montgomery with more than eight years of experience in Audio, Lighting, Broadcast and Production. His talents and experience are a valuable asset to our staff and the Production Team as they continue to meet the growing needs of our church. Zac and his wife, Abie, are originally from the Clay area and are looking forward to getting back to Birmingham where they can be close to family and friends. We are so excited to offer KidLife, Dawson’s version of VBS, on campus June 6–9. Our theme this year is “SPLASH!” and we will need hundreds of volunteers to guide preschoolers and children of our church and community on a journey to discover more about God and grow to become more like His Son, Jesus. Sunday, February 13, 4:00 p.m., 252 North                                                                             

Learn how you can be a part of this unique mission experience.  On June 4-11, this team will work with Dawson members currently living in the region. Even though much of the New Testament was written in this country, currently only a very small percentage of the population are Christian. This trip will have a strong prayer focus and include much prayer walking and sharing. Team members will encourage national leaders and share the Gospel through intentional, relational efforts.

Cost: $1,800

Dawson has supported Summit Community Church in Gorham, Maine in many ways, including the Chapel Choir going in 2017 to help them with “We Love Gorham Day”.  Summit Church is growing and is constructing a new building in a new location.  Dawson will send a team to help Summit volunteers build a large storage building on their new property.  The slab will be poured and ready for us and we hope to build the entire building in one week.  All levels of construction knowledge and experience are needed. 

We will worship with Summit on Sunday and work Monday through Friday.  The cost of the trip will be about $800 per person.  You will build relationships with the great members of Summit Church, and you will be blessed by their excitement for what God is doing to reach people in Maine. The Learning Center is back in full swing and so grateful to be serving members of our community who are seeking to earn a GED! Our classes are offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays now through Thursday, May 5 (with a little Spring Break). Sunday, February 13, 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m., Downtown Birmingham

On Sunday, February 13 DSM will take our high schoolers on a Civil Rights Tour from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. We are partnering with Collin Hansen, the Vice President of Content and Editor in Chief of the Gospel Coalition, and Lisa McNair, a Dawson member whose sister was killed in the 16th street bombing. They will lead our High Schoolers on a tour of various Civil Rights locations in Birmingham beginning at 16th Street Baptist Church, heading to Woodlawn, and ending in Avondale. They will cover (1) 1963 marches, (2) school integration/white flight, and (3) church reaction. 

We are prayerful and hopeful that this experience is eye-opening and a gift to our high schoolers. We would love for parents to drive and join us for the tour. There is no cost for the Civil Rights Tour, but please register so that we know who is coming and who needs transportation.

Thursday, February 24, 10:00 a.m., Chapel

Please join us for Thursday Chapel, a ministry for adults age 60+, on Thursday, February 24, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel. The Dawsonaires will lead with special music as we share in a time of singing, fellowship, and testimony. Tommy Sanders will continue his study about different aspects of Heaven. Please invite your friends and neighbors as we share in this special time of worship together.

What better way to begin 2022 than gathering together to pray? We’d like to invite you to join Dawson staff and members for a time of prayer in Fellowship Hall at 8:00–8:15 a.m. any or every Sunday morning prior to 8:30 Worship and Life Groups. We will share in a meaningful time of guided prayer in adoration, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication unto God. Registration is not required; simply show up to join us for a time of prayer.
